Over the past 14 years of practicing in personal injury law and wrongful death, Carlos Cavenago has settled and tried to a jury a wide range of cases including auto accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home neglect and wrongful death. While representing each of his clients Carlos uses his strong work ethic and persistent personality to ensure that his clients receive the compensation they are entitled to. Carlos Cavenago has always felt a calling to protect justice and is passionate about helping victims of negligence. His love and devotion for a legal career was inspired while taking legal classes at the undergraduate level. While at the undergraduate level some of his professors recommended law school because of his keen interest in the law and its interface with justice, policy and society. This became apparent in his practicing law and was recognized by Super Lawyers as he was selected as a Rising Star in 2011, 20012, and 2013. Carlos has now been recognized as a Super Lawyer for the past seven years in addition to being conferred AV rated status by Martindal Hubbell.
Directly after graduating law school from St. Thomas University, Carlos returned to Fort Myers, where he was born and raised, to accept a position as a prosecutor of the State Attorney’s office. It was at this time that Carlos prosecuted and won his first jury trial case that involved a DUI with severe bodily injury. After prosecuting many other crimes Carlos was transferred to the domestic violence unit which gave Carlos a strong sense of purpose.
While working in the domestic violence unit, Carlos was assigned a four count voyeurism case. On the first day of trial, the defendant pled guilty to all counts. The victim asked Carlos to refer her to a civil lawyer for a violation of privacy suit. He studied lawyers’ resumes and communicated with local legal professionals. One name kept coming up – Allan Parvey. He met with Mr. Parvey and spoke to him about the evidence and handling the case. Mr. Parvey was successful in securing a confidential settlement. After working on that case together, Allan and Carlos realized that they would work well as a team and Carlos joined Parvey & Cavenago Attorneys, P.A. as an associate attorney.
As this community has given so much to Carlos, he is always interested in ways to give back and extend his helping hand past his work as a personal injury attorney. He is a member of the Florida Justice Association, and the Lee County Bar Association. Carlos is also active with the Rotary Club of downtown Fort Myers. Being that the American Cancer Society is near and dear to his heart he represents Parvey & Cavenago Attorneys, P.A. annually at the Cattle Barron’s Ball, a popular fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. In order to ensure the education of future attorneys, over the years Carlos has taught several legal studies courses at Florida Gulf Coast University. In 2020 Carlos Cavenago started the Bishop Verot Legal Society so that alumnus from Bishop Verot that are attorneys and judges can meet annually to benefit Bishop Verot while spurring friendships and professionalism. Carlos is also an avid angler which led him to become a member and contributor to the Coastal Conservation Association, an organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment.
